Judges thought Rebeccah was more of an actress than a model

With the judges feeling like she was more of an actress than a model, Rebeccah was the next to be sent home.

Jeanne Beker wasn’t sure Rebeccah was committed to modeling

Jeanne says they could tell Rebeccah was sitting on the fence when it came to modeling. When Rebeccah told Jay she wasn’t sure if she was going to pursue modeling or acting after being eliminated, it only reinforced that.

“I’ve always seen Rebeccah as a true artist and I really appreciate her for that, she’s a gorgeous girl with a great artistic spirit. I’m not really sure she’s cut out to be a model or that she even deep down inside wants to be a model. I think she’s intrigued by the scene,” said Beker.

“I have a feeling that she may pursue acting. I would certainly like her to do that – I think she would be quite successful.”

Beker says she could see Rebeccah cast in a movie where she’s playing a model.

“She almost reminds me of a kind of Edie Sedgwick character and I don’t mean that necessarily in that tragic of a way … but she could be a muse I think to some designers for sure and she does have a bit of that quirky edge that’s very appealing.”

Jeanne thinks Rebeccah is a very interesting young woman, who’s at a very interesting time in her life.

“She’s just starting to really discover herself and to really express herself I would think. In a sense I think she came out or something to the media by saying that she was a lesbian, I mean more power to her, that’s great. It’s very important to feel comfortable with who you are in that way and to be able to talk about it.”

Mike Ruiz says Rebeccah ‘too theatrical’ for modeling

Like Jeanne, Mike also thought it was clear Rebeccah was more of an actress than a model.

“She tends to be very over theatrical in all of her photographs and I think she just needs to exercise a little restraint and a little more self-awareness as far as her body and her face go,” he said.

He said sometimes this resulted in awkwardness in her photos.

“She always seems so awkward and uncomfortable with herself. I think she needs to grow into herself a little more before she can really kind of sell us on the idea that she can be a model or an actress or whatever she decides.”

With Rebeccah having a very tough couple of weeks with some personal issues, Mike says he’s certain that was influencing her performance in the competition.

“Personally I would use that as fuel to kind of rise above it all and show them all but I could see how that sort of thing would beat somebody down and I think it has for Rebeccah.”

Yasmin Warsame wanted to see Rebeccah’s ‘beauty’ not ‘character’

Yasmin says as beautiful as Rebeccah is, she was still holding back in her photos. And at this stage in the game, you have to bring all you’ve got.

“Rebeccah we felt has been given chance after chance to show us her beauty, not her and her character, which she does phenomenally, not her pretending to be someone else, just her beautiful model self and we haven’t gotten that yet.”

The picture Rebeccah produced in the LG phone shoot was one of the worst they’d seen in a long time, according to Yasmin.

“I don’t know what her personal reasons were but when people ask you to do things, she had to sell the phone, there was another girl in the photo shoot with her, the competition, I think maybe the pressure got the best of her.”

Yasmin hopes Rebeccah will continue on in the business, if that’s what she wants.

“She seems to be a very comfortable, smart, intelligent, young girl and I hope all of these girls don’t stop their dream if this is their dream. I hope whatever it is that they’re looking for and they want out of this industry I hope it works out for them and they use this experience as a stepping stone.”

Dan Levy thought Rebeccah lacked confidence in modeling

MTV host Dan Levy

Guest judge Dan Levy, who worked with the finalists at a media training session at MTV, said Rebeccah lacked a certain confidence when it came to modeling.

“I think her lack of confidence left people a little uncomfortable and they didn’t know really what to think and while she shared a lot of her personal life in the interview with us, which I think is really important … I just think in general, she’s not secure enough in herself and it showed in the picture.”

He enjoyed his week on Canada’s Next Top Model and had much praise for a few of the other finalists.

“I think Nikita is obviously one of the stronger personalities. This week her photo didn’t necessarily coincide with that,” said Dan, who believed that sometimes a strong personality can outweigh a weak photo.

“And Meaghan showed up in her black little glasses, which won me over instantly, and you can just tell, the same with Linsay, they just have very welcoming faces and I think that’s what’s important in terms of this challenge and in terms of today’s sort of judging panel was work with what you have.”
