Episode number 1

After eliminations, the girls returned home to find a note from Ebonie telling them to stop complaining because they were the luckiest girls in the world.

The remaining finalists discussed how they thought Maryam should’ve been eliminated instead because she didn’t have a passport and didn’t go to The Bahamas.

Meanwhile, Rebeccah couldn’t stop crying and admitted to her dad on the phone she’d had a panic attack and missed her family. The other girls wondered what was wrong and told her she’d lost her spark.

The next morning Nikita enjoyed a greasy breakfast while Heather and Maryam worked out. A ‘Jay Mail’ arrived asking the girls whether they’re a model or a mouse and they headed off to their next challenge.

Heather and Nikita admitted they suffer from anxiety.

Charisma challenge with Irina Lazareanu and Mike Ruiz

The girls gathered at a high school auditorium and were met by judge Mike Ruiz and supermodel Irina Lazareanu who said they were going to help them develop charisma and presence.

Irina told the girls she was a “freak” in high school and said, “If you’re a freak, be a freak” and to not be afraid of that.

After a few suggestions on how to be more confident, the girls had to change into burlap sacks and read a script off of cue cards.

Most of the girls struggled with pronouncing the names of the designers in the script.

Mike thought Nikita had charisma but her delivery was jumbled and awkward. Linsay came out with the most confident walk but had a monotone read. Maryam struggled with her English but came alive when she read a couple lines in her native language. Meaghan also read monotone and Mike thought her knowledge of the fashion industry was very disappointing. Heather pronounced most of the names right and Mike thought she had the whole package. He wasn’t expecting much from Tara and that’s exactly what she delivered, pronouncing “Chanel,” “Channel.” Mike thought Rebeccah was all over the place and she also had difficulty pronouncing the names. He thought she was masking her real personality with this zany persona.

Tara was told she was the least charismatic and Heather won the challenge. Irina thought she was one of the girls who stood out the most and could have a shot at an international career. Returning back to the loft, Nikita and Heather found out they were being evicted from their private room and Heather received an LG Notebook PC as her prize.

Nikita and Heather had to move into the room with the other girls. Nikita refused to have her bed beside Rebeccah’s.

Beauty is skin deep

The girls woke up to a ‘Jay Mail’ that told them beauty is skin deep and that day they would get to see it for themselves.

They were taken to Toronto’s Medcan Clinic and received a skin analysis and recommendations on how to take care of their skin.

Beauty Shoot

Another ‘Jay Mail’ informed the girls that even if they lost their voice they’d still have to face the world.

The girls were taken to The Fifth in downtown Toronto, where they learned from creative director Nolé Marin they would be having an extremely dramatic beauty shoot with a twist – their mouths would be sealed off with duct tape.

The girls also learned about some Olay products they could use to take care of their skin.

The photographer was Chris Nicholls, who explained since the girls’ hair and makeup was so stylized they had to work very hard to pull it off.

Nolé and Chris thought Heather gave them a lot of variety but she wasn’t happy with how it went.

Chris thought Nikita was beautiful and had great bone structure but had trouble on set following direction.

Nolé told Linsay she needed to work with her eyes. Chris thought she was almost too focused on the camera.

Rebeccah was thrown off by all the makeup. She was very expressive and Chris didn’t think she fully understood the best angles of her face and the light. The other girls were watching and laughing – they claimed it was about other stuff and not her. Linsay and Heather told Rebeccah after the shoot they weren’t laughing at her. Rebeccah had a bit of a breakdown and started crying.

After her makeup was removed, she went to a separate room and called her mom to tell her she was having a panic attack.

Tara was up next and Nolé thought that despite having an incredible body, she didn’t give him any range in her face.

Maryam was overly dramatic, according to Chris, but they still got some great shots.

Meaghan explained that before school picture days her mom used to make her sit in front of the mirror and cover her mouth so she could learn to smile with her eyes. Nolé said she blew him away because of the story she was telling with her eyes. Chris thought Meaghan was the best because of her expressive eyes and all the variety she gave.

After the shoot, Rebeccah didn’t end up going back to the house with the other girls.

The girls had a dance party while Rebeccah later returned home. Nothing was said about what had happened earlier.

A ‘Jay Mail’ informed the girls there would be eliminations the next day.

Eliminations

Jay thought some charisma had walked into the room when the finalists entered the judging room. He made reference to how the girls messed up the names of the designers in the challenge and Jeanne Beker said she was shocked because those were household names.

Jay introduced the judges – Mike Ruiz, Yasmin Warsame, Beker and guest judge Irina Lazareanu.

The girls were then called up one by one for their individual assessment.

The judges were impressed with Maryam’s shot and Jay told her the practice she’s been doing before the photo shoots has been paying off.

Mike thought there was an undeniable connection in Nikita’s photo. Jeanne thought she looked very empowered.

Jay thought Tara had a tentative look in her picture. Irina told Tara there would be harder challenges than this in the working market. Mike thought she needed to better embody the vibe and energy.

The judges liked Heather’s photo. Yasmin liked the femininity and Jeanne thought it told a story.

Linsay gave the judges a runway walk and approached the desk. They were pleased her eyes were shown in the photo but Mike thought it looked like a catalogue shot. Jay thought the pose was a bit remedial.

Jeanne thought even though Rebeccah had a beautiful photograph, she had seen this look from her before. Rebeccah explained she had a panic attack following the shoot.

Yasmin told Meaghan even though she delivers in her photos, she looked uncomfortable in her own skin in person. Jay thought her photo was very high fashion. Jeanne thought that she had the most experience working without her mouth because of the braces. Mike thought it was a breathtaking shot but wanted something more intense with the eyes.

The girls left the room so the judges could deliberate.

During the deliberations the judges thought Meaghan and Heather looked similar in the photos and Meaghan had to stand out to stay in the running. Irina thought Tara had the best body but Yasmin was disappointed with her developmental pace. Jeanne thought Nikita had an edge and Irina thought based on the picture, Nikita would be ready to go out there and do her thing. While Irina thought Rebeccah had personality and character, Yasmin thought her poses were becoming predictable. Mike thought Maryam conveyed the idea completely. Jay thought after making it through such a difficult photo shoot last week, she’s taking no prisoners. Jeanne thought Heather was the one who consistently knew what she was doing even though her photo was predictable. Yasmin said Linsay had improved but thought she was progressing at a turtle’s pace.

The girls were called back in and Maryam got photo of the week while Tara and Linsay landed in the Bottom 2.

After being told she was holding back in her photo, it was Tara who was eliminated.
